\n\t\t\t\tAmong the many dance styles of India, Bharatanatyam is one of the most important and most refined; its teachings have been passed down from master to disciple for over two thousand years. It embodies the Indian concept of celebrating the eternal Universe through the beauty of the physical body. Once exclusively performed in temples by the Devadasis, Bharatanatyam has almost entirely left these sacred places and moved to the stage. Today, it is practiced by both male and female dancers throughout India and continues to be performed as an act of devotion, as the ancient texts say, ``no prayer, no offering is as pleasing to God.``\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space height=”22px”]\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>

\n\t\t\t\tEric Rozen began learning Bharatanatyam with Jetty Roels; he later met Monica Kunz, who became his teacher and introduced him to her own guru, Nirupama Rajendra of Bangalore, India. Eric Rozen has been teaching Bharatanatyam since 2001.
